A camshaft is a device usually, utilize on combustion engines, which cylindrical contains rods. These rods are usually attached on a spring and an oblong shaped cam pushes them open as it spin. The spring attached to the rods pulls them back. The camshaft is directly related to controlling the amount of fuel which enters the cylinders and the exhaust which exits through the exhaust manifold. With the notable VTech engine, the Civic Si has a variable controlled timing. What this means is that this opening and closing of these rods is controlled by a computer to adjust the timing depending on the road conditions. This allows the engine to receive the best quantity of oxygen for the conditions it is being exposed to leading to better overall performance, improved fuel economy, and a slightly higher horse power range.
