An engine rod, which is also frequently referred to as a connecting rod is a simple rod which connects the pistons to the crankshaft. This allows the pistons to be pulled up and down with the piston heads and provides an integral part in the overall function of the engine. Engine rods are generally manufactured using fairly strong and heat resistant materials due to the friction and pressure that will be placed on them by the engines operation. The Civic Si engine rod is manufactured using a light weight high tensile and heat resistant material and offers extremely good performance. This allows it to function effectively even while under the extreme load produced when the engine is run at higher than average RPM ranges. It also helps to prevent the engine rod from being damaged which can result in major repairs.
