A front spoiler which is also commonly referred to as an air dam is a device which is positioned under the front bumper and functions to effectively drag the car down on the front end, especially when driving at higher speeds. One common misconception among some drivers is that a rear spoiler will improve performance on all cars. This holds true for rear wheel drive vehicles because it drags the rear end down resulting in better contact between the rear tires and the road. With front wheel drive cars performance can actually be decreased by a rear spoiler because it lifts the front end up in the process of dragging the rear end down. A Civic Si front spoiler is an effective way to drag down the front of the car offering better contact between your front tires and the road.
