An instrument cluster is essentially the computer which operates all the dashboard gauges and controls in an automobile such as a car or truck. The instrument cluster usually functions with a fairly simplistic computer board which converts the digital data into analog data to function effectively with the analog gauges such as the speedometer, tachometer, and fuel gauge. It also receives information from the main computer. It uses this information to determine if there are any warnings, errors, or emergency situations and then lights the appropriate displays if necessary. The Civic Si instrument cluster is a fairly sophisticated instrument cluster which offers a lot of additional information over most automobiles. It also offers a fairly sophisticated dash display which offers the driver information in a descriptive and user friendly fashion. The dash itself is laid out in a clean and organized fashion.
