A motor mount, which is also commonly referred to as engine mounts, are simple devices designed to hold the engine in place. They are manufactured with a heavy high tensile strength piece of metal on either side of a heavy duty piece of rubber. The rubber piece between the two metal brackets serves the purpose of giving the engine some play. This allows the rubber to absorb both the vibrations produced by the engine itself and any vibrations experienced as a result of the road. This prevents additional wear to the frame and the engine. The Civic Si motor mounts are manufactured using standard heavy weight rubber and galvanized steel which allows them to function under extreme stress. This makes them suitable to function even under heavy vibration which can be caused by quick acceleration and high RPM ranges.
